How to Create a Geofence Notification

What is a Geofence Notification?

A geofence notification is an alert that notifies you whenever a specified vehicle enters or exits a geofence area. For example, "Vehicle #12 entered Business Geofence at 5:35 pm".

Before creating a geofence notification, you will need to create a geofence

Enable Location Services

To set up a Geofence notification on your mobile device, you will need to first enable location services. 

Step 1. Log in to the All Aware app on your mobile device

Step 2. Tap the More icon in the bottom right 

Step 3. Tap App Settings

Step 4. Tap Location Services

Step 5. Toggle on Location Services

Step 6. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete setup

Enable Push Notifications

You can create notifications on the All Aware web app or mobile app, but to receive real-time push notifications on your mobile device you will need to ensure push notifications  are enabled. 

Step 1. Log in to the All Aware app on your mobile device

Step 2. Tap the More icon in the bottom right 

Step 3. Tap Notifications

Step 4. Tap My Push Notifications: On/Off

Step 5. Toggle on Push Notifications

Step 6. Tap the Back Arrow at the top left of the screen two times

Step 7. Tap Manage Devices

Step 8. Scroll down to Mobile Devices and locate the device marked This Device

Step 9. Tap the ••• icon next to the device's name 

Step 10. Tap Rename Device

Step 10. Rename you device to a descriptive name, like "Tom's iPhone 16 Pro", then tap OK

Create a Geofence Notification: Desktop App Instructions

Step 1. Log in to the All Aware Desktop App

Step 2. Click Notifications on the left sidebar

Step 3. Click + New Notification on the top right corner of your screen

Step 4. Click Location Based Alert on the pop-up screen

Step 5. Configure the notification: 

  • Select the vehicle and geofence to receive a notification when the vehicle(s) is detected entering the geofence you select.

    Select the green icon to add an additional field for a different vehicle and/or geofence.

  • Select the vehicle and geofence to receive a notification when the vehicle(s) is detected exiting the geofence you select.

    Select the green icon to add an additional field for a different vehicle and/or geofence.

Step 6. Under During This Time Frame choose whether to receive the notification at all times or only in certain time frames

Step 7. Choose Recipients 

Click + Add and select the recipient and notification type: email, SMS, or push. 

If a contact is not listed: Click + New Contact and enter the new contact's information to add a new Address Book entry. You can then save and select this contact as a notification recipient. 

Step 7. (Optional) Rename the notification

Step 8. Click Save

Create a Geofence Notification: Mobile App Instructions

Step 1. Log in to the All Aware app on your mobile device

Step 10. (Optional) Scroll to the top of the page and rename your notification
